cusco, peru to guayaquil, ecuador - day 7 - september 12, 2025

Big travel day today! We got up and had a beautiful breakfast at the Belmond Hotel Monasterio at 4AM! We then boarded busses for the airport. Today we will fly from Cusco back to Lima, then on the Guayaquil, Ecuador.

The flight from Cusco to Lima was running late, so we had to run through the airport in Lima as well as go through immigration & security. Out Travel Director, Eddie said it was a small airport - it wasn’t! We all made the plane. Guayaquil seemed like a very nice and clean city from the portion we drove through. We found out later that it is the 8th most dangerous city in the world!

We arrived at the Hotel del Parque, a very nice hotel that had an attached zoo with monkeys! It was great to be sleeping at sea level after several nights in Cusco!
