Western Massachusetts - Day 4 - October 7, 2024

This morning we packed up and had our last breakfast at Grana before heading out to western Massachusetts and the Berkshires. Our first stop this morning was in Lenox, Massachusetts at the The Mount, the home of Edith Wharton. I have never heard of Edith Wharton, but she was a famous novelist about 100 years ago. Our guide, Anna , knew an amazing amount about Edith and like many of the societies that run these old mansions was very excited and informative about the tour. We had an excellent lunch on the back patio overlooking the beautiful grounds.

We then proceded to the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The museum was a large affair with beautiful grounds. Inside, they had all of the covers of the Saturday Evening Posts for decades that Norman Rockwell had done and many of his other works. They were having a special exhibit of MAD Magazine at the museum for the fal and it was very cool.
