LIMA, Peru to CUSCO, peru & sacred valley - day 3 - september 8, 2025
We awoke very early this morning for a 4:30am breakfast and ride to the airport. We are taking a LATAM flight to Cusco. We took a very crowded flight over the Andes Mountain to Cusco - it was very exciting. We separated into our usual Alpaca and Llama busses and went to the Sacsayhuaman temple site. This temple was the larges in the Inca empire. It took some getting used to the elevation; Cusco is at 11,152 feet above sea level and Sacsayhuaman site is at 12,142 feet above sea level.

We then drove to Hacienda Huayoccari for an excellent lunch and a cool horse show. We had Andean Mint Tea (Muna) and Coca Tea that is supposed to help with the high elevation.

We then drove along the Scared Valley to the hotel. The hotel, Tambo del Inka was a beautiful place - by far the nicest hotel of the trip! That evening we saw a show called The Apus of the Andes which was an amazing show with lights and a live band!
