LIMA, PERU - Days 0 - 2 - September 5-7, 2025

Day 0 - Friday, september 5, 2025 - Fly from Albuquerque to Lima, Peru (Via Houston)

Today begins with a long travel day - we spend 5 hours in the lounge in Houston Airport - a lounge we have been to before and do enjoy, but 5 hours is a long time! We boarded are flight to Lima, Peru and after 6 hours arrived in Lima a little before midnight. The good news is that when you fly north and south the time doesn’t change much! It sems that most of the lights from the US to Lima arrive late a night so the immigration hall was packed with people. The immigration bunch at the Lima airport was hit or miss - some people had their photo and finger prints taken and others didn’t have anything done. We found out later that some didn’t even get their passports digitally stamped as entering the country - that turned out to be a large problem later when trying to leave. We were both fine!

Tauck collected 8 of us and drove us through a really sketchy part of town to the Country Club Lima Hotel - which was very nice! We have been up about 24 hours so we settle in for a much needed nights sleep!

DAY 1 - Saturday, September 6, 2025 - Lima, Peru

We slept in this morning and had a wonderful breakfast at the hotel. We took it very east today and stayed around the hotel. The security at the hotel is very noticable - many nicely dressed secuirty folks, including the breakfast room! We had a nice linner at the Bar Ingles - which is supposed to have the best Pisco Sour in all of Peru - it was very good! We will end up having many Pisco Sours during out time in Peru!

day 2 - Sunday, September 7, 2025 - Lima, Peru

Awoke to another nice breakfast this morning at the hotel. We met out tour director, Eddie Roblero and boarded the buses for a downtown Lima walking tour, we were the Alpaca group and our guide was Richard. Lima is an interesting city - very large about 12.5 million it is always cloudy but seldom rains. We visited the oldest house in Lima (1536) - the same family still lives in a portion of the very large home. We then returned to the busses and went to lunch at the Museo Larco, a museum that is full of early Andean clay figures, regular and very erotic, from around 1500 BC.

We returned to the busses and hiked along the beach to a culinary experience at the Hotel B. We learned to make Pisco Sours and Ceviche and then had a very nice dinner including out makings! We returned to the hotel to get a bit of sleep before or 4 am call for the flight to Cusco tomorrow.
